Perito
The town of Perito is situated not far from where the river Alento meets the Fiumara of Santa Lucia. At the end of the 15th Century when the town is first mentioned in historical records, it was known as Terrae Piretii. The town walls that surround the town, offer evidence of the strategic importance of Perito, which joined the t most important Roman cities of the region, Velia and Paestum. Part of the town of Perito is the historical village of Ostigliano where characteristic arches still connect the various palazzos above the narrow little streets, preserving the historical charm of the town.
