Petina
Plinio mentioned in his writings this area surrounding the Alburni mountains, describing the luscious forests of Silver Fir trees which gave Petina its name. The most ancient monument of the town is the convent of Sant'Onofrio where Donato da Ripacandida, a member of the Benedictine order, was granted sainthood. But Petina has me more sites of historical interest, for example another monastery Cava de Tirreni (dating back to 1174) or the Abbey of Montevergine (1192) where ancient manuscripts and documents are preserved Take time to visit the beautiful Church of San Nicola di Bari, I Fontana Vecchia, old fountain, and the Chapel of the Corpus Domini.
