Trentinara
Trentinara is situated in a unique location high up on Mount Cantenna, dominating the plain of Paestum from the top off the cliff with its back resting against the imposing 1,210 meters high Monte Vesole. The name Trentinara derives from the words trenta denari, "thirty deniers", the salary earned by the roman soldiers who guarded the only aqueduct that brought water to the city of Paestum. In the old town, visitors can admire the 16th century Parish Church, the Chapel of San Nicola, and the few surviving examples of Norman architecture. Passing through the picturesque little streets of the ancient town you can reach the highest place where from a little square, named La Terrazza del Cilento, a spectacular view reaches as far as the sea.
