Valle dell'Angelo
One of the smallest villages of the Cilento area, Valle dell'Angelo set deep inside the wild and unspoiled natural landscape of the Val del Calore. This little town lies at the foot of the Mount Ausinto, well known lo pilgrims because of the nearby Grotta di San Michele (the cave of the Angel) a sanctuary dedicated to the Archangel, which gives its name to the town and the surrounding valley. This cave is very ancient place of popular worship retaining evidence of the Lombard dominion of this region. The town centre is famous for the stuccoed ceilings and the marble altar of the Church of San Barbato. Also very interesting are the Church of San Leonardo and the 17th century Palazzo Baronale.
