Alfano
The first historical records of Alfano date back to the year 1443, d of the first official census ordered by the Aragonese king Alfonso V. The town has been ruled by a long succession of feudal lords, beginning with the Carafa family from Policastro. This history has I visible traces in the architecture of the old town centre with its elegant palaces, like the Palazzo dei Baroni Speranza and Palazzo Baronale Novelli.Another important land mark is the church dedicated to the lo patron saint San Nicola di Mira, built in the 15th century and subsequently restored in the 17th century. The church contains two beauty altars and a precious holy water stoup, carved from local stone. The same stone has also been used in the imposing bell tower.
