Prignano Cilento
The origin of the name Frignano is, possibly, derived from the Latin plinianus - meaning "estate belonging to Pliny" - or, according to some scholars, comes from the Greek perì ghnatos, which means "dose to the narrow passage". Others, finally, suggest that the name refers to the pear trees which grow abundantly in this area. The archaeological park of the famous city of Paestum is oniy 11 km from the main town centre. Mere, visitors to the site can also admire the various archaeological finds in the nearby museum.
