Montano Antilia
On the slopes of Mount Chiaie, the town lies on top of a rise that offers sweeping views across the Gulf of Policastro. Montano Antilia with its two suburbs. Abatemarco and Massicelle, is a relatively recent settlement compared to some of the neighbouring towns. The first records date back to 1493 although the town does include some older architectural elements such as the beautiful medieval stone staircase, the scala santa, with its ornamental motifs, the altar a the fountain. The town was part of the feudal estate of the dukes Manforte of Laureti. The two suburbs probably developed around ancient places of worship erected here by Basilian monks.
