Piaggine
The town of Piaggine is situated in one of the most scenic and environmentally interesting locations of southern Italy, The Massiccio del Cervati, with its great biodiversity and stunning landscape. The earliest urban settlement developed here around 1159 when a community of Benedictine monks erected a church dedicated to Saint Simeone. Taking time to visit the old town, with its narrow streets a stone stairways leading up to the beautiful 18th and 19th century palaces, visitors will find the Churches of Sant'Anna, San Nicola and the Chapel of Santa Maria del Carmine, which holds a beautiful altar piece depicting the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
